Rigguy® Wire Stops® were created by arborists for arborists and eliminate the need for the “J,” “lag,” “eye,” hooks, thimbles, “through bolts,” “pre-formed wraps,” “wire clips,” or other terminal hardware. They can be used in more applications because they are secured on the outside of the limb or trunk. Because of their small size and simplicity, they make for a more finished, less cluttered, installation. The six wires surrounding the internal taper are pulled deeper into the block as the pressure from the tree increases. This inward movement locks the captured wires ever tighter between the internal taper and the external block. The seventh wire (the center wire) is bent over the taper to hold the system in place if the cable slacks in the wind. The block is made of 6061 AL and the taper is made of 416 SS for strength of application and corrosion resistance. Although the wire stop is only 1 1/4 inches long, it holds close to 100 percent of the breaking strength of the strand itself, which is more than 15,000 pounds (if using 3/8-inch EHS strand). The Wire Stop is in the revised ANSI A300 Standards and conforms to all “shall” clauses. Wire Stops are available in large, small and ornamental tree models. The Finishing Caps are not necessary components of the Wire Stop, but do give a finished appearance and provide protection from exposed wire ends. The cap is made of UV protected vinyl.
